Peering Into Infinity: Mirrors of Love & Grief by Steven Lewis has been shortlisted for the BREW Readers’ Choice Award and has received two recognitions: the BREW Seal of Excellence from The Chrysalis BREW Project and The Bookish Readers’ Pick Award from The Bookish Magazine.

The BREW Seal of Excellence is granted to titles selected through editorial review and evaluation criteria established by The Chrysalis BREW Project. The shortlist placement for the BREW Readers’ Choice Award reflects reader engagement during the award cycle. The Bookish Readers’ Pick Award is determined by audience response and editorial selection at The Bookish Magazine.

In its review, The Chrysalis BREW Project noted the structure and scope of the collection, stating: “The book consists of twenty-four poems. Each and every poem is unique and has a flow of its own.” The review also described the work’s approach to lived experience, observing that “Lewis masterfully encapsulates his love for his grandson, Roy, and the grief at losing him in his poems.”

The Bookish Magazine framed the reading experience through reader engagement and context, writing: “This is not a book that asks for sympathy. About the Book

Peering Into Infinity: Mirrors of Love & Grief is a poetry collection composed of twenty-four poems written in sequence. The work traces personal experience through memory, place, and daily observation. The poems were written following the death of the author’s grandson in 2023 and developed over time from an initial newsletter publication to a full-length collection released by Codhill Press. 

About the Author

Steven Lewis is a writer and editor with experience as a Mentor at SUNY–Empire State College and the Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College. His work has appeared in publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times, Ploughshares, and Narratively. He is currently Senior Editor at WritersRead.org. His recent books include the novel The Lights Around the Shore and the poetry collection Fire in Paradise, co-authored with Elizabeth Bayou Grace.
